University recommend students studying abroad to consider returning to Japan as early as possible as the local situation may worsen rapidly and it may become difficult to return to Japan should you be infected.

If you are staying abroad, please try to protect yourself from infection first and foremost by, for example, getting plenty of sleep, maintaining a well-balanced diet, washing your hands and gargling frequently. In addition, please take the following actions:

?Gather the latest local information.
?Inform the university and your family of your situation.
?Verify that you have submitted a Notification of Residence to the local Japanese Embassy or Consulate General.
?Ensure that you have the contact information of the local Japanese Embassy or Consulate General, so that you can contact them in case of emergency.
?Check the coverage of your overseas travel insurance.
 * The scope of eligibility for medical treatment and rescue depends on the coverage.
?Make sure you have the contact information for the help desk of your overseas travel insurance.
 * If you become ill, they can refer you to a medical facility.

If you are staying in an area where infection is spreading, please observe your own health status by, for example, taking your temperature every day, in addition to the precautions mentioned above. If you are unsure of your health, please follow the instructions from your local affiliate university or a medical facility. The Health Care Service Center of Tokyo University of the Arts may contact you directly if it is deemed necessary for safety concerns.

Scholarships from the Japan Student Services Organization (JASSO) and Tobitate! Study Abroad Initiative will be suspended on the day on which MOFA’s Travel Advice and Warning on Infectious Diseases Level is increased to 2, as those scholarships are intended for studying in countries at Level 1. Please ensure that you have sufficient funds to live on just in case.

If you have concerns about your academic activities as you consider interrupting your overseas studies, please consult your faculty advisor or department.
